Jayne Clark

2009 Lincoln's Inn

Jayne qualified as a Solicitor in 1994, having worked in law firms as a legal clerk since 1980 and having studied part-time for her degree as a mature student. She specialised in family law following her qualification as a solicitor.

Post-qualification as a solicitor, Jayne has specialised predominantly in all aspects of Public Law childcare work, acting variously for local authorities, children and parents. She has however also undertaken private law child care work, particularly representation of children in the more complex of cases. She did a considerable amount of advocacy as a solicitor. She was a member of the Law Society's Children Panel from 1997 until she was called to the Bar. Jayne was often instructed in complex public and private law cases involving serious non-accidental injuries, where one parent has been convicted of murder, serious sexual abuse cases, cases involving jurisdictional issues and cases involving implacable hostility. As a solicitor, Jayne represented one of the parties in Lancashire County Council v B [2000] 1 FLR 583 as far as the Court of Appeal stage.

Since being called to the Bar Jayne has been instructed on a regular basis by local authorities, on behalf of parents and children in Public Law Children cases. These have included serious non-accidental injury cases where there have been issues of medical complexity, issues relating to capacity, significant neglect cases and serious sexual abuse cases. She also continues to undertake private law Children work including representation of parents and children, particularly in the more complicated cases.

Jayne undertakes training of social workers, health care professionals and legal officers.

Jayne does not accept Direct Access instructions.
