Colette Renton successfully defends in 11 handed conspiracy to burgle
The defendant aged 22 was acquitted unanimously of conspiracy to burgle and conspiracy to steal after a trial lasting 4 weeks at Carlisle Crown Court in front of HHJ James Adkin.
Following Cumbria Constabulary’s investigation under ‘Operation Rumble’, the prosecution alleged the defendant Tyler Wilson had been involved in the conspiracy to attack ATMs in Cumbria using heavy plant machinery and stihl saws. The conspiracy covered 26 events of reconnaissance or criminal activity, in the course of which the conspirators cut through the stone walls of Aldi shops, metal shutters of Home Bargains and used JCBs and Tractors to pull apart ATMs.
6 defendant’s pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal, 2 were convicted after trial of conspiracy to burgle.
